Festival report by Richard Mardon:
On a beautiful day at the Wimbledon B Festival last Sunday, the Under 9’s B team produced an almost faultless display with their only defeat in four matches falling to the eventual winners, Guildfordians, who were by far the strongest team in the two pools, totalling 9 teams.

What an outstanding day we had at the Kings A festival on 2nd October. This was our first festival of the season so we were all on a knife-edge knowing that the boys were going to be up against some tough competition.

Welcome to Wimbledon Minis RFC

Welcome to the new season of under 9’s rugby at Wimbledon Rugby Club.

The U9’s are for boys and girls aged under 9 on the 1st September 2011.
Coaching sessions are 10am to 12pm on Sunday mornings. We also play a variety of festivals, triangular and friendlies throughout the season.

As befits a vibrant and successful club, we have first class facilities including the bar which is open after coaching sessions every Sunday. Please feel free to join the coaches any Sunday for a social chat.

Please note that training starts at 11am tomorrow.

We will be training at home tomorrow from 1100 to 1200. This hopefully give the ground time to soften up enough. We won't have Rosslyn Park or Teddington with us so may be able to find some better playing areas which are less rutted etc.

If the weather gets worse and it's all cancelled I'll send out another email/web post.

Dear Rosslyn Park and Teddington U8s,

Following a pitch inspection this morning (Saturday 27th) we have unfortunately decided to cancel your training fixture with us tomorrow (28th). Sorry about this but the training areas were still frozen hard at 11am today and as they are well used there is some rutting which makes the surface unsafe.

We have had no significant sun today, the forecast for tonight is -4 deg C so things aren't going to get any better for tomorrow. There is also a 6mph wind forecast which will make it even harder to keep everyone warm.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT U8s TRAINING ON SUNDAY 17th Nov

Please note that unfortunately we will not be training away at Warlingham on Sunday but will be at Home instead.
Sorry to disappoint, but I am sure we will be able to make the most of a home training session.
See you all on Sunday at the club, usual time.
Please note that this only applies to the U8s, unless you have received advice from the other age groups so I hope it doesn't cause too many logistical problems.

Match Report Chobham B Festival – 3rd October 2010

The first outing of the “B” team this season produced some commendable individual performances and a very satisfactory end result for the team, made more so by the torrential rain that fell throughout most of the tournament.

It was a league system, playing against five other teams and simply whoever ended up with the most points won. Blissfully simple for a Sunday morning (compare this to some of other formulations that would not look out of place in some PhD maths thesis).

U7s STORM TO THE CUP FINALS AT MITCHAM MINIS FESTIVAL

Sundays festival saw us entering the local festival at Mitcham. The day started with clear skies and a sharp wind which stayed with us all day. With the tent swiftly arranged for shelter, the squad was soon settled into base camp and ready for action. Sam C, Milton, Billy, Luke, Alex, Louis R, Sachin, Ralph, Cameron, William S and Sam V were soon warming up together and searching for the source of the fried bacon aroma. With Richard, Adam, parents and myself running some training drills, no time was wasted.

I still need a response from a few people confirming attendance at the Christmas Lunch on 6th December. Please let me know as soon as possible as FINAL NUMBERS MUST BE RETURNED to the club by MONDAY 23rd NOVEMBER.

The email I sent out on 17th November has all the details but please drop me an email or call if you need further info.

I also need more volunteers to help with preparation on Saturday morning (5th) and on Sunday (6th).

Training Session on Sunday 8th November

Hi U7s,

Just a quick note to say thanks for a great turn out on Sunday, we had 27 player out of 32 registered so were able to get on with some really constructive training drills and split up into 4 teams to play several games in the last hour. This week Luca deservingly walked away with the Player of the Week cup for his great focus and teamwork during the drills and matches. We've also gained a few more willing coaches in the last few weeks and it was great to see them so actively supporting Mark.

Hi everyone,

We managed a training session on Sunday morning with 12 players and finally the winter weather arrived! It was very wet but that never stops us!

Mark ran the training drills and I'm sure some of them acted like a rain dance so we did end up finishing a bit early with Ben Corbett deservedly walking away with the "Player of the Week" cup; it was probably full of rainwater by the time he got to the car park!

We'll be training once again at home on Sunday 8th November so I look forward to seeing you then - come rain or shine!

CHOBHAM ‘A’ RUGBY MINI FESTIVAL – 18TH October 2009.

An early start on a cold Autumn Morning gave us a reminder of the weather ahead this winter. However, this was soon forgotten and by 11am the sun was shining on us and we were blessed with another fine and warm ‘festival day’. With conditions set fair we were in line to be spoilt with some thrilling rugby contests combined with an improving standard of play.

27th Sept - Away training session at Effingham

Hello,

I’ve got a bit behind on the posts updates but at last . . . On the 27th we trained away for the first time at Effingham. They also hosted for Dorking so we managed to get some varied training and four friendly matches into the session.

We had 20 players turn out which was a really great result for an away training session this far away, so thanks very much for your support.

Harvey Knight walked away with the “player of the week” cup, as he showed some great skills with tagging and try scoring.

Please see below the player list for the Kings and Guifordians Festivals this Sunday 4th October.

If you haven't already done so, can you please confirm that you can attend the festival shown below. Please check as I have moved some players around.

If your child's name is not on the list can they please attend the training session as normal at WRFC, the U6 manager (Andrew Lewis) will be covering for me there. Please let me know if you plan to do this.

As I have already mentioned we have been invited to participate in both the KCS and Guildfordian festivals which are both on 4th October.

Please CONFIRM your child's availability for next Sunday 4th October. Team selection will be based on your confirmation that your child is available for selection. Please e-mail me at svhome@blueyonder.co.uk NO LATER THAN TUESDAY 29th.

If you have another child already selected to play at a festival please let me know which one so that I can ensure you children attend the same festival.

Sunday 20th Training Session

Dear All,
On Sunday we had another fantastic turnout of 26 players including 5 more new faces joining our great group at Wimbledon. And the sun kept shining . . . again! We also welcomed 22 players from Kings minis who joined us for training. Finally, the session finished off with a couple of friendly matches which saw some healthy competition between both teams. A great effort by all our U7s in their first match with another club – well done everyone.

Congratulations this week to Milton Dunleavy who was awarded player of the week who showed great focus and try scoring skills.

Hi U7's,
On Sunday 13th we saw another good attendance of players, taking the group upto 26.

There were several new players again this week. A great effort from everyone and some good matches at the end, and fair weather again!
The player of the week cup went to William Stothard – well done William.

Please remember to sign attendance register for your child each Sunday. I won’t be around this weekend but one of the coaches will be covering for me.
